Prediction of ground surface settlement induced by twin tunnelling in urban areas

Tunnelling in urban areas is growing response to efficient transportation, many tunnels are constructed soft ground at shallow depths. Urban usually as twin-parallel and their adjacent constructions may cause settlements that distort damage the existing structures utilities above tunnel. In past few decades, tunnel boring machines have been used drill increasingly difficult geotechnical conditions such like clay. Metro Line 3 of Hanoi metro system designed twin horizontally aligned ground. The prediction movements an important part planning stage any tunnelling project. This paper presents results numerical simulation by using ABAQUS finite element software predict vertical displacement surface caused pilot light line 03. According results, maximum left bore excavations values 12.8 21.3 mm, respectively. can be reached after shield passes a distance ranging from 30÷40 m. Twin only affects approximately 20÷30 m before excavation face After excavations, magnitudes directly (x = 0 m) 7.9 mm coinciding with 61.7% displacement. 13.1 61.5%
